Burch BioWave Inc. has patented the process utilizing a specially designed industrial microwave to dry and eliminate pathogen content in a variety of waste products generated as a result of wastewater treatment, lime treatment, and certain industrial and agricultural operations. Burch BioWave, Inc. was founded as a sister company to Burch Hydro Inc. in order to better serve and meet the evolving demands of waste management. Burch Hydro, Inc. is a service company that has been providing environmentally sound waste management services to industries and municipalities for twenty-five years. The long term experience that Burch Hydro had in providing these services exposed the changing needs of industry, water and wastewater facilities, and the agricultural community for the reclamation of the waste materials that they were generating to meet the stricter governmental regulations and the growing concerns of the public.
The process of drying these waste materials with an industrial microwave was a concept formed by experienced Burch Hydro staff. A demonstration model of the microwave was designed and manufactured. Three years of traveling with the demonstration model treating samples of by-products from different manufacturing, water and wastewater treatment, and agricultural operations was sufficient to further develop and prove the worth of the patented microwave drying process. Plant operators and managers, engineers, and city officials from different parts of the country were able to attend the demonstrations and view the technology firsthand. The BioWave
® process was able to generate a great deal of interest and confidence early on.
In March 2000, Burch BioWave Inc. was incorporated and has since become a leader in revolutionizing the management of waste products to benefit the health of the public and to provide long term environmental protection of the earth’s water sources.
